Pet Doors
A dog door or a cat door is a smart investment – you know what it’s like without one, constantly getting up to let your pet in or out all the time. That’s why we carry such a large range of pet doors, from the humble doggy door to cat flaps, from the patio pet door to the dog door for glass, from the large dog doors to the magnetic cat door.
I don’t know about you, but I was forever getting up to let the dog out, and then getting up again to let the dog back in. That is until I installed a dog door. However, this is where I learned there is a process in the selection and installation of a dog door or cat flap.
Prior to looking at the pet doors, I recommend that you take the time to get some information together. This information is going to be invaluable when selecting the dog doors or cat flaps that will best suit your pet and your door. The information you are going to require comes down to what the door is made of, how thick it is and some measurements relating to your pet. These measurements will prove beneficial when considering any of our cat or dog doors. Measure the following:
- The width of your pet’s shoulders (this is where your pet is broadest), as this will relate to the width of the pet door flap
- Your pet’s height from the floor to the top of the shoulders, which corresponds to the length of the dog door flap
- The distance from the floor to your pet’s rib cage (this is the closest part of your pet’s body to the floor). This helps determine the position of the doggy door, as the base of the flap opening should match this measurement as it makes it easier for your pet to use the pet door.
